Foamstars Releases Feb 6th

Square-Enix's new 3rd-person team shooter has officially announced its release date for the beginning of February 2024.

During Sony’s State of Play broadcast today, Square-Enix showed off the official release announcement trailer for its upcoming 3rd-person team shooter Foamstars. The game is set to release on February 6, 2024. During the announcement trailer, various game features and modes were shown off from the games characters, stages, game modes, and the announcement of the first season of content (pretty much the game’s battle pass) upon the games release.

Upon the game’s first announcement trailer last year, Foamstars has been known to be compared to Nintendo’s own team based shooter Splatoon, even to the point of Foamstars being called a knock-off or blatant copy of Nintendo’s game. On the surface, this may very well be true but the objective in Foamstars differ from Splatoon where in Splatoon you have win by whichever team can cover the playing field with their team ink color while in Foamstars, your objective is to incapacitate your foes with your foam gun until they are incased in foam. Afterwards, you must proceed to knock them out of the arena by using your surfboard to ride the foam that covers the playing field and run over your foes with it.

Foamstars is currently to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 / 5 as part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus free game. This is to allow players to redeem the game and keep it in their game library and play for free for as long as they hold a PS Plus subscription (this is the same thing that happened with Sega’s Vitrua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown) but will cost $29.99 starting on March 5, 2023.
