Nijisanji Terminates Selen Tatsuki

After a little over a month of complete silence regarding the talent Selen Tasuki, NijisanjiEN finally releases a statement with a notice of termination of Selen effective immediately.

Nijisanji, whose parent company is ANYCOLOR, made a press release regarding the termination of Selen Tatsuki, a member of NijisanjiEN’s second wave “Obsydia.” This comes after Selen has disappeared from the internet for a little over a month since December 25, 2023. The press release was released on X (formally known as Twitter) and is 3 pages long, more than the last major termination, which was last year’s Zaion LanZa whose termination notice was a detailed 2 pages long.

In the press release, Nijisanji goes over the reasoning for the termination of Selen in scathing detail (similar to Zaion’s termination) in which they indicated various violations of the company’s Activity Rules, from non-compliance of rights confirmation & authorizations flows, unauthorized usage of works & assets of affiliates of ANYCOLOR, along with various acts of inappropriate behavior as a talent within NijisanjiEN.

The final act before Selen’s termination and what really caused the month-long disappearance was during Christmas Day of last year where Selen released a cover song of “Last Cup of Coffee”, a song that was very dear to her and poured a lot of time, resources, & money to have made in order to give as a Christmas gift to her fanbase, the Dragoons. The cover went up for a couple of hours before it was suddenly made private by Nijisanji management, siting that not all of the permissions with rights holders were given before the release. This contradicts what was said by Selen in a stream which she beamed with so much enthusiasm over being able to do the cover in which she states herself that she gotten all of the permissions from everyone involved, this includes all of the artists who contributed to the video to the song producer, Lilypichu. It was also stated that this was a work that was a year in the making. After all of this, Selen disappeared from the net only to make a tweet on both December 27, in which she states that she was in the hospital due to an accident and then again on December 31 to inform everyone that she was discharged and is back home with family. Since then, Selen was not seen on the vtuber scene for a whole month.

Since the termination notice, indie vtuber DokiBird, who is now confirmed to be the talent behind Selen Tatsuki, has come out of her silence to shed some light on the situation at hand. In various tweets made following the notice, Doki has stated that she was hospitalized for an attempt that was caused by built up of bullying from within Nijisanji & being in a toxic & poor environment for numerous months that lead to her breaking point (suicide attempt) and that she requested to leave first on a more neutral term on Jan 26th. During this time from Dec 25th, Doki did not have access to her accounts under the Selen name so that begs the question….who were making all of the posts on Selen’s account while she was hospitalized (we already know who). Dokibird is set to make her return on Feb 7th.

We here at Anime Toshokan wish Dokibird the best on her return that hope that stays well after all the things she’s been through. Also, to anyone out there who ever decides that taking your own life is the answer to escape your troubles, please seek help from family or respected friends to get you through those times. If that doesn’t help, please seek professional help. Hurting yourself is never the answer, no matter how hard life sends things your way (I’m speaking from experience as I’ve also tried to take my own life once).

I have so many things I would like to say right now but, in all honesty, I don’t see how anyone can be a fan of Nijisanji after this fuck up. You can still be a fan of the talents but just not the company. To me, Nijisanji is the largest Black Company in the Vtuber space (I can give zero shits about what Millie Parfait said in that stream about saying Nijisanji isn’t a black company….yeah, keep believing that sista) and after these events, this solidifies it. A lot of the stuff that goes on there can be backed up to some degree by Zaion (aka Sayu) as her termination was something similar to Selen’s. What has me worried is the wording in the official termination notice about “being harassed by affiliated livers due to mismanagement.” This right here has so many implications. Could this mean she was being harassed by other livers within NijisanjiEN along with management? Again, this doesn’t sit well with my opinion about the other talents of NijisanjiEN if this is true but since Dokibird has not stated as such, I’ll keep those opinions in check for now.

All in all, this whole turn of events is a clusterfuck of pettiness on Nijisanji’s part with the company trying to push all the blame on Selen herself while taking none of the responsibility and blame themselves. Nijisanji, you’re a fuckin horrible company and I hope whatever downpour of misfortune for the company itself (not the talents) comes your way. But sine you’re already trying to push out more merch right after the termination, you don’t give a fuck anyway so whatever. The CEO is a billionaire to begin with and you got to get those funds to get him another yacht, right? Go fuck yourselves, ANYCOLOR.
